Being in a gym…sat on the internet, now this really is my kind of workout, my fingers are furiously bashing away at buttons and i can feel the calories burning away…..
Today is the 2nd time in the last 48 hours I have completed a full program in the gym after having the weekend (and a bit more off) to visit home too see family & friends. After spending Friday – Tuesday in my lovely homeland of Billericay, Essex and enjoying too many meals out, one free bar for an evening and an awesome night at Upton Park (the home of my beloved West Ham Utd for those who don’t know) I entered the gym yesterday feeling rather sorry for myself after thinking I was making process, and then having my lack of will power and love of cider and Jack Daniels leave me down in the dumps as I struggled through a program with sweat and almost tears.
Today however I was much more positive about the whole situation, I spent longer on the Cardio machines and was lifting more on the resistance machines, even went for my first swim and enjoyed 10 minutes in the sauna, which has now left me with a big smile on my face and positive outlook.

The Workout
A little about me/my profile, im 6'0 (183cm) and 12.5st (79 kg) my BMI is/was (when last calculated) around 23.5 which works me out as being pretty healthy and far from the flabby image I see in the mirror which is a pure confidence thing as apose to anything serious (I know i'm not obese im just not comforatable with my body)
So as I sit here waiting for my Jacket potato to finish cooking with Morrissey's dulcet tones
I'm left thinking about my gym routine, and how much i'm enjoying it. This is my workout:
5 Minutes on the crosstrainer
2 sets of 12 reps Leg Press - 70 kg
2 sets of 12 reps Chest Reps - 30kg
2 sets of 10 reps Bicep Curls - 8kg
2 sets of 10 reps Tricep Kickbacks - 5kg
10 drops Swiss Ball Lower Back
20 Lunges w/ 10kg Weights
2 Minute Plank
45 Second (Minimum) Up & Down Plank
2 sets of 12 reps Sit Ups
2 sets of 12 reps Press Ups
3 Forward 3 Backward Bear Crawl
10-15 Minute Treadmill Interval Training
Reading back it really doesn't seem that much, but a week into training and it seems just the perfect ammoun to get me started and my muscles used to the workload again, 40-50 mins per workout.

Are The Aches & Pains Worth It?
MY LEGS ARE IN AGONY!!!
Yes i know the answer to the above question is an obvious yes if I am serious about toning up and losing weight, but isnt sitting on the sofa browsing BBC sport & sitting on Facebook much easier?
I am of course joking (well i'm a little bit serious) having played Football last night for the mighty "Dagobah" (A 5-a-side team I captain) and hitting the gym this morning my legs hate me. I personally feel better than i have done in months are just a week and going to the gym 3 times as well as one training session and a 5-a-side game last night I've never felt more active in my life, I seem to have more energy and am more positive about everything...Including work.
So after just a short time I hope I continue to feel these aches as it means i wouldn't have given up and will hopefully be looking more like "Van Damme" than "Van Barneveld"

Confessions Of An Overweight Unfit Wannabe Footballer
It's time for the beer-belly to go.
Last week I joined a gym which was a very odd expierience surrounded by beautifully generic overly happy people and an incredible (read that as Bastard) salesmen I was sold and signed up for a 6 month membership, There was reasoning behind it, 2 months ago I signed for a football team, having spent the last 18 months running round a 5-a-side pitch like a headless chicken getting back into the tactical side of the game has been bizzare, pre season training, 3 touch games, complex drills but the one thing i'm struggling with is...FITNESS. That horrible little word that people obess and judge on, is for the first time ever taking control of me, I am now going to the gym, watching what I eat and hardest of all my flat has been turned into a place where no alcohol is being stored or consumed for the forseeable future or at least until there is another big night out.
It's good though as hopefully it means i will be fit as a fiddle in no time, back in the squad and fighting for a place in the starting 11.

It's A Bloggers World
How do people start a blog? Like your first ever line to the world?
After weeks of playing with the idea here it is... the memoirs of Thomas Richard Smalley, Essex born & bred est. 1988 beer chugging football loving bad dancing 23 year old stuck in a dead end job living and partying (as often as I can) on the embankment of the Trent in Nottingham.
Ok so reasons I've started this blog:
1. I'm not ashamed to admit I fancy myself as an entertainer
2. I enjoy reading others blogs
3. I enjoy sharing my views on stuff
4. It's 1am on a Monday morning and I'm currently having a bout of insomnia
I have aims for this blog:
I don't want it to be boring
I don't want it to be repetitive but I do want to create some running themes (#nowplaying etc)
I don't want it to be a carbon copy of everyone else's blog
Ok so my first post is a total buzz killer but the 2nd one is coming straight after
As I sit watching the social network wondering what it must have been like to be Mark zuckerberg, I tend to spend alot of time wondering what it would be like to be someone else!!
I've always had a habbit of keeping stuff to myself, i deal with all the same issues everyone else does, and 9 times out of 10 I handle them the wrong way.
But **insert drum roll here** The positive spin on the post is I have some great friends, and over the past couple of days relised how ace one of them is, so thank you that person :)
